Our American Import Number Plate is a 12 x 6 inch (305mm x 152mm) acrylic plate made to fit the plate recess on US-market cars, trucks and SUVs. It replaces an ill-fitting 520mm UK plate with one that sits neatly in the original recess.
It's made from premium acrylic with 3M reflective material for a clean, glossy, modern finish, and it's available as a road-legal plate or a show plate.
Road legal on imported vehicles
Imported vehicles without European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval, whose plate area can't take a standard UK plate, can use smaller characters (64mm high). Most US-spec vehicles qualify. To fit a 12 x 6 plate at that size, your registration is set out over two lines. Every road-legal plate uses the Charles Wright font and carries the British Standard mark and our supplier name and postcode.

Acrylic or pressed metal?
Acrylic gives a smooth, modern look. If you'd like the traditional embossed finish American cars originally had, or a plate that flexes rather than cracks, choose our American metal pressed plate.
What you'll need
For road-legal plates, we need proof of your name and address and proof you're entitled to the registration (such as your V5C, V750 or V379). Order by 12:30pm, Monday to Friday, and choose next-day delivery at checkout.

After ordering this plate three times after registering the vehicle import, it passed its MOT. The first mistake was mine as I typed the wrong reg. The second time relates to an issue with the website workflow whereby "Buy Again" doesn't reload the previous order and I ended up purchasing a front plate instead of a rear plate. Especially confusing given the preview image shows a yellow plate. But I finally managing to get in contact (after lots of email issues), I received a discount to buy the plate for the third time. All product is of excellent quality and shipping is very prompt, but I'm dropping one star because the online purchase experience could definitely do with improving.
American import plates were perfect and arrived within 2 days. Good quality and no issues with DVLA approving them our end. Thank you.
