Finish your American classic the way it deserves with our Classic American Metal Pressed Number Plate. It's a traditional black pressed plate with raised silver characters, made in the 12 x 6 inch (305mm x 152mm) size that US-market cars were built for.
Nothing looks more at home on a 1960s Mustang, a Bel Air, an early Corvette or a classic pickup. The plate sits in the original recess, so there's no trimming, overhang or extra drilling.
Who can use black and silver plates?
To display black and silver plates on the road, your vehicle must have been built before 1 January 1980 and be registered with the DVLA in the historic vehicle tax class. Vehicles built after 1 January 1980 can't use them, even if they're tax exempt.
If your car is old enough but still in a standard tax class, apply to the DVLA for historic status first. For newer American imports, choose our yellow and white American metal pressed plate.

For road-legal plates we need proof of your name and address and proof you're entitled to the registration, such as your V5C logbook. Not sure if your car qualifies? Check the build date on your V5C, or call 01452 947998.

I ordered a 6 x 12, silver on black pressed plate for my 1971 Pontiac, initially to replace a very small, thin number plate on the front, but have realised that the one I’ve ordered will replace the rear one, and set off the chrome bumper and rear light clusters, with the silver accent strip around the outside of the plate. The order was produced and dispatched very quickly, came well packaged and as you’ll see from the video, is nicely made and painted. No bleed over from the silver letters onto the black background. Very pleased with it so I’m ordering another one to go on the front.
